Home Birth Midwifery in Sonoma County

Supporting families through

pregnancy, birth, and the sacred postpartum window

Home Birth Midwifery Rooted in Tradition

I honor the way in which pregnancy is a normal season of life and that giving birth is a deeply primal act that beats to the rhythm of its own primordial drum. The ancient art of traditional home birth midwifery requires unconditionally supporting women and their families throughout conception, pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum.

Respecting Sovereignty and Physiological Birth

I believe that Motherbaby are intrinsically connected and that every woman possesses the innate ability to give birth undisturbed in a safe, comfortable, and private environment. I fully respect individual sovereignty and place the mother at the center of her care. True midwifery supports informed choice and honors the physiological birth process as sacred.

A Calling to Spiritual Midwifery

When I first stepped into the birth space more than 10 years ago, I knew I had walked this realm before—whether as a doctor, nurse, or medical midwife. My return to birthwork in this lifetime is a higher calling: to restore the spiritual elements of true spiritual midwifery.

Birth as Ceremony and Transformation

I see all birth as a profoundly ceremonial and psychedelic experience, offering the opportunity for radical growth and transformation. My family-centered care is rooted in trust, reverence, and a strong connection to the divine, offering a quantum approach to midwifery that encompasses mind, body, and soul.

The Wisdom of the Village

The traditional ways of the wise woman remind us that childbirth is a family-centered event. This ancient model strengthens family bonds and supports women through community midwifery care, village gatherings, and connection.

Birth as a Sacred Portal

Birth is a portal…an invitation to awaken to yourself and your power. Birthing outside of the standard medical system requires taking full responsibility in preparing physically, emotionally, and spiritually for your birth.

Preparing for Birth

The work of preparing for birth, as women, partners, and midwives, is not about checklists, but about the innermost work we must do in our hearts. True preparation honors the body, mind, and soul, and creates space for physiological birth to unfold in trust.

The Path of Quantum Midwifery

In quantum midwifery, my clearest intention is to nurture deep trust, soul-level connection, and the spiritual unfolding that occurs as women cross the sacred threshold from maiden to mother. This care also honors the journey of men and fathers, inviting them into deeper presence, emotional attunement, and their own sacred initiation.

The Birth of a Family

In this way, we prepare not just for the birth of a baby, but for the becoming of a family. My practice supports both mothers and fathers in remembering their wisdom, strength, and sovereignty as they step into parenthood.

WHAT WOMEN ARE SAYING

  • I couldn't have asked for a better midwife and for her support through this incredible initiation into motherhood. My whole idea of childbirth was completely misinformed until I met Catalina. Thanks to her my baby came to this beautiful world in the most natural way and without any unnecessary trauma. Catalina continues to be of help and good advice month into motherhood. I can't recommend her enough.

  • I had been planning my Birth for many months quietly to myself. At around 7 months pregnant, I met Catalina and knew almost immediately that she innately knew how to support me. She patiently answered all my questions and offered her wisdom whenever I sought it, never giving unsolicited advice or influencing me in any way. She honored my own wisdom above anything else. She was simply THERE and I knew that she would be there if I needed her.

  • This is exactly the type of support we are looking for - hands off, but so available and willing to listen and guide us as we need it! If you’re looking for someone who genuinely cares about you and what YOU want for your birth, someone who will guide and support you in the most gentle and loving way, someone who feels like a true friend and shoulder to lean on - then I can’t recommend Catalina enough. We are so grateful for her!

  • I first connected with Catalina around 11 weeks pregnant. Upon our first phone call I was certain she was meant to support myself on the journey of pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I had initially considered free birthing my daughter. I had fears around working with a provider that would interrupt my desire for physiological birth. From the first moment I met Catalina, her presence offered invitations of safety, curiosity, and expansion. Working with her throughout my pregnancy, I felt held and free to listen to my own intuition to support my baby and my body best. In the moments I was uncertain, she only reflected back the strength and knowing within me, bolstered by her own wisdom in the realms of birth. Now writing this 11 weeks postpartum, I consider Catalina a dear friend and teacher. In our container, I walked through the greatest transformation of my life, thus far. I had my dream pregnancy, birth and postpartum. I feel confident, trusting and whole in my mothering journey and I understand the importance of asking for help and having a team of women behind you in embarking on the initiation of motherhood. At all points, Catalina reflected back my sovereignty. And in my experience of sovereignty, I also knew I was never alone.

  • Catalina is as good as it gets. She was a part of our birth team as we welcomed our first baby last October. She has an incredible gift to meet you where you're at. Her calming yet strong energy gave me so much ease as I prepared to bring my baby into the world. She created a space that was safe, trusting and perfect for my pregnancy. Then came the birth. She walked me through the most challenging few hours of my life. I can't imagine the experience without her. She will absolutely be present if/when we have another baby. She is a 10!

  • I love Cat. She was one of the midwives for my birth and I cant speak more highly of her. The entire pregnancy she was right there with me holding space, listening and supporting me without judgement of my choices. She was so informative without being pretentious. She was there for me whenever I texted her with questions after hours. Cat made me feel totally supported and cared for. During birth she went over and above a midwives duties. She brought essential oils, rubbed my shoulders, helped me make informed decisions (ended up transferring to the hospital so I was faced with a lot of unknowns), and even helped me with breastfeeding. She is a total gem and I hope to have her for all the rest of my birthing journeys.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Home birth midwifery is the ancient art of walking beside women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in the sanctuary of their own home. It is not medicalized care delivered in a different setting…it is an entirely different paradigm, rooted in relationship, rhythm, trust, and reverence for the physiological birth process.

  • For healthy, low-risk pregnancies, home birth has been shown to be a safe option, especially when attended by a skilled and experienced licensed midwife. Safety is not only about statistics, it is also about the environment. At home, women can move freely, follow their instincts, and remain in their power, supporting the natural hormonal blueprint needed for normal labor and natural childbirth to unfold.

  • Midwives are trained to recognize when labor is deviating from normal and when transport is needed. I bring tools and skills for handling the unexpected and work with families ahead of time to make a clear plan should transfer become necessary. Birth is unpredictable, but so is life. What matters most is being held by a calm, present, and capable team who trusts the process and knows when to respond.

  • Absolutely. Full-spectrum Midwifery Care includes:

    • Prenatal visits (in-home, office or virtual): At least 90 minutes, these are a grounded, spacious and heart-centered time to check in physically and emotionally

    • Birth attendance: Continuous presence throughout labor, Birth and immediate postpartum

    • Postpartum care: Home visits during the tender first weeks to support healing, feeding and integration

This is a continuity of care model — not just checkups, we are building a relationship.

  • Anyone you want (and no one you don’t). This is your birth, and you choose your circle. That might be your partner, your older children, your mother, your doula, or simply you and your baby. My role is to support your vision, not shape it.

  • Not much. A body and mind that trust, a home that feels safe, and a midwife who honors your autonomy. I’ll provide a simple supply list and walk you through every step. You don’t need a “perfect” space… just a held, safe space.

  • I’m a Licensed Midwife by the Medical Board of California, trained in both modern midwifery and quantum midwifery traditions. My practice blends clinical knowledge, somatic wisdom, ancestral knowing, and soul-centered support. I believe birth is a transformational rite of passage, not a problem to manage.

  • That is always your choice. True autonomy means you have permission to shift plans if that feels right. I support families emotionally, logistically, and spiritually…every step of the way.

    • Complete Prenatal Care

    • 24/7 On-Call Support from 37-42 Weeks

    • Labor & birth attendance, including water birth and VBAC support

    • Immediate Newborn Care

    • 6 Weeks of Postpartum Visits

    • Breastfeeding Guidance

    • Birth Story Processing

    • Optional Ceremonial Elements: Breathwork, Closing Ritual, Placenta Medicine

  • I can provide a Superbill for reimbursement depending on your plan. I also offer flexible payment plans, sliding scale options and cash discounts.

Birth is not a commodity; it is a sacred investment in your family’s beginning.

  • That answer comes from within. If you are drawn to experience birth as personal, healing, and sacred… if you feel safer at home than in a hospital… and if you long for trust, friendship, and community…then you are in the right place. My role is to walk beside you as you remember you have always known how and where to give birth.
